Bleubird Sessions is a series of events with local independent activity providers to encourage our community to embrace the outdoors in new ways, with like-minded people, all whilst giving back to environmental charities of our partners' choice.

This Session will take place at Strandhill Beach, County Sligo, on 29th July 2023 at 5 pm in partnership with renowned surf school Sligo Surf Experience. Lessons last approx 2.5 hours from start to finish, including meet and greet, changing time, and a 2-hour surf lesson. A qualified surf instructor will guide you through the entire experience, ensuring a fun and safe experience.

When you are changed, your instructor(s) will guide you to the beach where you will collect your surfboard. On the beach, you will listen to a short surfing demo and safety talk from your instructor. First is a brief introduction, instruction on surfing ABCs with basic water safety, and then a quick practice on the sand before hitting the ocean to practice what you've learned.

It doesn't matter if you are surfing for the very first time or you are an experienced surfer looking to improve your skills, this Session is open to everyone!

What to bring

Each surfer needs to bring swimming gear and a towel for changing. Bringing a backpack for your belongings is also advisable.

Sligo Surf Experience will supply the rest of the necessary surfing equipment: premium soft learner boards, super warm 5mm Tiki wetsuits, and surf boots.
